William J. Slezak Jr.

William J. “Bill” Slezak Jr., 63, of New Alexandria, passed quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after a long history of tobacco use.  Bill was born April 20, 1962, in Latrobe, to the late William J. Slezak Sr. and Peggy (Householder) Slezak.  He spent his life in the New Alexandria area.  He was best known for operating Billy's Pizza, since 1986, alongside his wife and two sons. Through years of hard work, he helped lay the foundation for his sons to open and continue serving the community through their own restaurant ventures in recent years. A legacy that carries on in their hands on the family's property.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Miller and an infant brother, James; his former mother-in-law, Pat Miller; his brother-in-law, Greg Petrucci; and his nephew, David Ackerman.  Bill is survived by his best friend and ex-wife, Diana Slezak; his two sons, William and Ryan (Kaycee) Slezak; his sisters, Janice Little (Bob), Debra Grote (Bob), and Tammy Slezak, Jackie Heisler (Chad), and Cathy Renee Hampton (Jim); two brothers, Randy Miller; and Todd Slezak (Megan); along with a niece, Nicole Sudia (John); one great niece, Sophia; two special friends, Marlene and Toni; and his cat, Muffin; along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins.  Bill's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the friends who stood by him during his illness and they offer a quiet prayer for those whose actions made his burden heavier.  A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248.  A memorial service will take place during the gathering at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Costa officiating.  Burial in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with funeral costs.  Checks can be made out to Diana Slezak and sent in her care to 811 Jefferson St. PO Box 35, Latrobe, PA 15650.
