William Shumaker Jr. Obituary

William R. Shumaker Jr., 63, of New Alexandria returned to the Lord on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was born on November 8, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Esther (Childers) Shumaker and stepmother Martha Shumaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary N. Shumaker, of New Alexandria. Also surviving are his two children: Chad W. (Lisa) Shumaker of Monroeville and Melissa K. (Paul) Luchynsky of Clarion, four grandchildren: Declan W. Shumaker, Merrick R. Shumaker, Roman P. Luchynsky, and Marilyn G. Luchynsky, three brothers: Ray (Debbie) Shumaker, James (Teija) Petrone, and Glenn (Karen) Petrone, four sisters: Starr Heupel, the late Sue (Bill) Goughenour, Wendy (Dean) Wright, and Trina Shumaker, two brothers-in-law: John Neidhart (Sarah Roemmelt) and James (Geri) Neidhart, sister-in-law Marilyn Neidhart, cousin "Big" Ray Henry, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and family friends. William served as a proud Vietnam Veteran. A 20-year employee of McKinney Drilling Company, he later worked as a computer programmer for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He attended Sons of Zebedee Lutheran Church in Saltsburg. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, located at the corner of Church and Washington Streets, New Alexandria, where services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the charge of Pastor John Ludwig.
