Warren E. Klingensmith, 77, of New Alexandria, died Monday, March 21, 2011, in his residence. Born June 26, 1933, in Export, he was a son of the late Clarence and Florence (Lape) Klingensmith. He retired from Beckwith, in Murrysville , where he was a journeyman mechanic. Warren was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the New Alexandria Firemen's Club, The Salem Ukrainian Club of New Alexandria, The Latrobe Hose Company No. 1, The Frontier Club, Cooperstown AMVETS, The Whitehouse, Jeannette American Legion and VFW Post 7745 of New Alexandria. He enjoyed bowling rubber band duckpins for more than 20 years. He also bowled in 10 pin leagues. He also was an avid horseshoe player. Warren was a platoon sergeant with Company L, 17th Infantry Regiment, during the Korean War. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David, in 2009; and a brother, Dean. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Catherine Davis Klingensmith, of New Alexandria; three children, Sharren MacDonald and husband, Harry, of Delmont, Robert Klingensmith, of New Alexandria, and Mary Jo Shellgren and husband, Russell, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. H. Clifton Foster, pastor of Congruity Presbyterian Church in Salem Township, officiating.
