Violet M. Bowman, 100, of New Alexandria, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Crest Personal Care Facility, in New Alexandria. She was born Feb. 18, 1913, in Luxor, to Henry Sachs and Mabel Drucilla Gibson Sachs. Violet retired from Kmart where she was a sales clerk. She was a member of United Methodist Church in New Alexandria. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Porter Bowman; a sister, Henrietta (Lou) Goughneour; and brothers, George, James (Peg) and Harry (Armelda). She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Bowman and wife, Martha; granddaughters, Debra D. Herman and Mark, Tammie L. McNaughton and Ron, and Lysa R. Murphy; great-grandson, Trevor L. Murphy and Julia and Violet's first great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy L. Murphy; her son, Donald B. Bowman and wife, Joyce; a grandson, Donald B. Jr. and Jennifer; and great-grandsons, Dillon and Justin. "Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the P.
