Suzanne Walker Younker, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the home of her son in Belle Vernon. The world lost a point of light with her passing. She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Tarentum, daughter of the late Frank H. Walker and Elizabeth Barrett Walker. She is survived by her son, Calvin Frank Younker and his wife, Elizabeth Marie, of Belle Vernon; a grandson, Daniel Kenneth Younker; sisters, Jane Huet and Betsy Klingensmith; and nieces and nephews around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Younker; twin sister, Rosanne Steinbrunn; sister-in-law, Leona Leeper; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Huet, Chet Klingensmith and Richard Steinbrunn. A graduate of Tarentum High School and Edinboro State Teachers College, Suzanne was an art teacher at Mars Area Junior-Senior High School prior to the birth of her son. She realized a lifelong dream when she opened the Country Mouse of New Alexandria in 1979. With the help of family and friends, the Country Mouse provided cards, gifts, silk flower arrangements and friendly conversation for almost 25 years. Suzanne was a dedicated Camaro owner, an avid collector and history buff, and enjoyed scouring antique stores and flea markets for unique items, as well as researching the history and value of her purchases. She did extensive research into her family genealogy.
