Sheri (Shondelmyer) Balega

Sheri (Shondelmyer) Balega, 72, of Latrobe, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh.  She was born September 24, 1952, in Greensbug, and raised by the late Samuel C. Shondelmyer and her grandmother, Isabelle (Hollis) Shondelmyer.  She was a caretaker and worked as a CNA at Westmoreland Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital in Latrobe.  She also worked as a hostess at the Latrobe Eat’n Park, was and auxillary member of the Latrobe F.O.E. 01188, and enjoyed trips to the Live Casino.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph D. Rose; and two sisters, Janice Shondelmyer and Kimberly Sherman.  Sheri is survived by her husband and companion of 37 years Steve V. Balega; a daughter, Sheri Jo (Rose) Uncapher and her husband Robert; two grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Nickolas and Brandon Friedline; three siblings, Jeanne Muscenti (Joseph), Samuel Shondelmyer (Michael), and Lynn Keefer (Thomas); her in-laws, Joe Balega (Barb), Ruth Teitelbaum, and Kevin Balega; several nieces and nephews; and her loving cat Mia.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Shawn Lyons officiating.  Burial will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont PA.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.  To send condolences, please visit www.NewhouseFuneralHome.com.
