Shawn Gregory Newhouse

Shawn Gregory Newhouse, 56, of Crabtree, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 17, 2024, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1968, in Latrobe to the late Elmer Roy and Carol Ann (Heard) Newhouse.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father in 1995, his mother in 2008, his brother Kevin Jason Newhouse in 2017, and both his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his partner and care taker Colleen Heffelfinger.  He also leaves behind five siblings: Shirley L. Friedman (Ron) of Mount Pleasant, PA; Diana J. Newhouse of New Hampshire; David Roy Newhouse (Debbie) of Colorado; Jessie Ann (Newhouse) Dilascio (Angelo) of Saltsburg, PA; and Lisa J. (Newhouse) Brooks (Scott) of Union, KY. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Shawn would have graduated with the Class of 1987 from Derry Area Senior High School. He devoted his life to caring for others and found great fulfillment in doing so. Shawn also had a passion for hunting and gardening, pursuits at which he excelled and that brought him much joy.

In accordance with Shawn's wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.

Shawn’s dedication to helping others and his love for the outdoors will be cherished by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he touched during his lifetime.
