Rose Marie Elliott

Rose Marie Elliott, 90, of New Alexandria, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born May 13, 1922, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Fred J. Slezak and Gertrude Schmitt Slezak. She retired from Sears where she worked as an interior decorator. Rose Marie was a member of St. James Church of New Alexandria. She was also a member of the 4-H and a Club leader. She volunteered at the Salvation Army, Red Cross, the New Alexandria Library and Derry Township Historical Society. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald P. Elliott, in 1989; two grandsons, Joseph C. Gongaware, in 2002, and Jason P. Gongaware, in 2009; a son-in-law, William E. Gongaware, in 1978; and a brother, Frederick A. Slezak. She is survived by her four children, Kathleen E. Gongaware and Howard Peters, Donald Elliott Jr. and wife, Patricia, Daniel F. Elliott and wife, Tracie, and Judi Elliott and Mike Cain, all of New Alexandria; grandchildren, William E. Gongaware Jr. and wife, Patricia, Sheri Gongaware, Steven Elliott and Elizabeth Elliott, Scott Elliott and fiancee, Lauren Flanders, Daniel Elliott Jr. and wife, Jennifer, and Sarah Mikeska and husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, William C., Joseph E., Maizy and Elly; a sister, Vera Eisaman, of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, at the corner of Church and Washington Streets, New Alexandria. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church in New Alexandria with the Rev. Monsignor Raymond Riffle, Rector at the Cathedral. Everyone please go directly to the church.
