Ronald A. Gower, 77, of Blairsville, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born Mar. 14, 1946, in Latrobe, to the late Hubert M. and Margaret L. (Heacox) Gower. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and continued his service for many years following the war, ataining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before his service concluded. He was employed as a Quality Assurance Specialist Inspector for the U.S. Government. Ron was a long-time member of New Alexandria United Methodist Church, the Blairsville VFW Post No. 5821, the Blairsville American Legion Post No. 407, and the Blairsville Military Honor Guard where he assisted with providing military honors for deceased veterans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Gower Jr. and a sister-in-law, Rosemary (Camarote) Gower; a brother, Edward Gower; a brother-in-law, Thomas W. Laughlin; a great-nephew Jacob Gower; his father-in-law, Sherman Laughlin and his mother-in-law, Ruth (Nicholson) Laughlin. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann (Laughlin) Gower; three children, Alan D. Gower of Blairsville, Cassie Ann Wilford (Bryan) of Harrisonville, and Tracey Lee Martin (William) of Blairsville; eight grandchildren, Bryce T. Wilford, Kirsten Courtney (Wilford) Hall (Nathan J. Hall), Tara Lynn (Martin) Crowe (Zachery Crowe), Kassidy Dawn (Martin) Gulas, Kayle Marie Martin, Tyler James Martin; three great-grandchildren, Lillionna Marie Gulas, Lyla Jean Gulas and Jaxon Patrick Gulas; a sister, Linda Giaccardo (Aldo); as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Nov. 10, 2023, at New Alexandria United Methodist Church, 106 Washington St, New Alexandria, PA 15670, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon with Pastor Tammy Falcsik officiating. Military honors will be rendered at Union Cemetery, New Alexandria by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard with private interment to follow. P.
