Robert E. Morgan, of Greensburg, formerly New Alexandria, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014. He was born Nov. 5, 1951, to the late Calvin and Louise Henry Morgan. Bob was a 1971 graduate of Derry Area High School and earned degrees in political science and secondary education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was an instructor at Westmoreland County Community College and substitute teacher in the Derry Area School District. In 1975, he co-founded with Bryan Werner "The Sentinel," a monthly newspaper serving the New Alexandria area for 27 years. Bob was also an avid reader and book collector. He leaves behind close friends of many years, Bryan Werner and the Maryann Eidemiller family, and newer friends in his several years living in Greensburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME in New Alexandria, with the Rev. H. Bryan Werner officiating. Burial will be private. Bob liked to say he "loved dogs and even a few cats," so memorial donations can be made in his name to Action for Animals Humane Society (from which he had adopted his dog, Spot), P.O. Box 814, Latrobe 15650. www.newhousefuneralhome.com.
