Robert Montgomery Stefanon, Esq., 81, of Herminie, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in Excela Health Hospice, Jeannette, surrounded by his family. Born May 14, 1929, in Allegheny County , he was the son of the late Irma Stefanon. Bob was a graduate of Duquesne University School of Law. He was an attorney with offices in Herminie , Yukon and Greensburg . His specialty area was in Workers Compensation litigation with a 90 percent success rate in securing black lung benefits for his clients. He was a life member of the Westmoreland Bar Association, counselor for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, former Westmoreland County assistant attorney general, Department of Justice, former Westmoreland County assistant attorney general, Department of Labor and Industry, and Westmoreland County Selective Service System, where he was an associate government appeal agent for Local Board No. 170. He was on the founding board of trustees for Westmoreland County Community College , and was a former solicitor for Hempfield Township . He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Herminie. He was a life member of Sewickley Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 15. Bob was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8427 in Herminie. Bob served during the Korean War in the Air Force as an aircraft radar operator, navigator, with the rank of first lieutenant. Along with his mother, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Dilorenzo-Stefanon, in 1992; grandmother, Zeferina Zurlo Stefanon; and grandfather, Ernesto Stefanon. He is survived by two sons, Patrick Stefanon and wife, Roxanne Mazzoni, a granddaughter, Andrea Stefanon, and grandson, Jason Mazzoni; and Michael Stefanon and wife, Michelle, and grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew, and granddaughter, Kate; a daughter, Stephanie Bogac and husband, Dr. Robert, a grandson, Cody, and granddaughter, Abigail; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Valinch; beloved cousins, Robert D. Stefanon and Ernest "Skip" Stefanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place from noon until 8 p.m. Monday at the Stefanon residence, 422 Sewickley Ave. , Herminie. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum chapel at Westmoreland County Memorial Park , Hempfield Township , by Father John Harrold, pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church of Herminie. (Everyone is asked to go directly to the mausoleum.) Burial will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park . Full military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 33, Greensburg . P.
