Richard T. ‘Dick' Elliott Sr. Served In Vietnam As Army Medic Richard T. "Dick" Elliott Sr., 71, of New Alexandria passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Oct. 21, 1941, in New Alexandria, he was the son of the late Edward Vincent Elliott and Bessie Mae Himmler Elliott. Dick retired as a truck driver from Kepple Trucking. He was of the Protestant faith. Dick belonged to the Blairsville VFW, Salem Ukrainian Club, New Alexandria Fireman's Club, Saltsburg American Legion, Hannastown Sportsmen's Club, Latrobe Sportsmen's Club and the Keystone Rod and Gun Club. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army as a medic with the rank of specialist four. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a special friend, Ruth Kuzmin of Avonmore; children, Kim Shacreau and fiancé Jim Swienki of Greenwald, Richard Timothy "Bo" Elliott of Blairsville, Lawrence Edward "Lee" Elliott of Milwaukee, Christopher M. Elliott of Blairsville and Eric M. Elliott and wife Angela of Homer City; grandchildren, Samantha Hapchuk and husband Jacob, Dan Shacreau, Logan Elliott and Carson Elliott; brother, Vince Elliott and wife Duckey from New Alexandria; sister, Lois Taylor and husband Craig from Latrobe, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, in the funeral home with Pastor Rhea Summit of New Alexandria United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Coles Cemetery, Derry Township.
