Pauline G. Brooks, 76, of New Alexandria, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 28, 1937, in Tunnelton, she was a daughter of the late Dominick and Columba Ercole Casciere. She was a housewife and homemaker. Pauline was a member of St. James Church of New Alexandria. Pauline was a supporter of the Breast Cancer Foundation. Her life was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandson. She especially loved her pet dog, Jessie. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Ukish; and a sister, Lucy Shaffer. She is survived by two children, Debbie Ukish Newhouse and husband, Dennis, and Scott M. Ukish, of New Alexandria; grandchildren, Hallie Ramer and husband, Harold, and Lacey Newhouse, of New Alexandria; a great-grandson, Abel Paul Ramer; siblings, Dora Yankuskie and husband, Casper, of Tunnelton, Louise Simpson, of Saltsburg, Frank "Toby" Casciere and wife, Shirley, of Erie, and Michael "Butch" Casciere and wife, Linda, of Tunnelton; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, in St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with Father Thomas Acklin, OSB, chaplain of St. Emma's Retreat House in Unity Township, as celebrant.
