Orlin J. Armond, 93, of New Alexandria, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Grapeville, a son of the late Louis and Esther Trillo Armond. Orlin was the owner of Armonds Arco service station in New Alexandria. He retired from Bonarrigo Motors, a Ford dealership in Blairsville, where he worked as a mechanic. He was also a watchmaker, fixing watches and clocks. He loved his garden and was happiest when he was working. He belonged to St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. He was in the Asiatic and Pacific Theater. Orlin survived the sinking of the ship President Coolidge on Oct. 26, 1942. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Gretz Armond, in 1993; and his siblings, Frank, Mary, Henry, Helen, Viola and Florence. He is survived by his son, Edward J. Armond and wife, Joyce, of New Alexandria; sisters, Toni and Muffie; also several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with the Very Rev. Larry J.
