Mary J. Opsitnick, 77, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Joseph Nalevanko and Mary Nalevanko. She was the general manager for Avco Financial Services. Mary was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church of Crabtree, where she was a faithful member of the choir and the Resurrection choir. She also belonged to the First Catholic Slovak Union Jednota. She loved to cook and entertain, her morning walks, knitting and crocheting, but most of all she treasured spending time with family and friends. She was the spiritual and social core of her family. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her four brothers, Joseph, George, Andrew and John Nalevanko; and a great-nephew, Thomas Brennan. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, William J. Opsitnick, who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness; two sons, William Opsitnick and his wife, Diane, and Randall Opsitnick and his wife, Kimberly, and a granddaughter, Amanda Flinn; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Nalevanko and Lily Nalevanko; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church of Crabtree with Father Justin Matro, OSB, as celebrant. Burial in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township. Everybody go directly to the church. P.
