Mary Louise Kopcak Novak, 69, of Irwin, died peacefully Thursday, May 11, 2010, in her residence. She was born Nov. 12, 1940, in Greensburg, a daughter of Beatrice Newhouse Kopcak, of White Oak, and the late John J. Kopcak. Mary Lou retired from Medicorp, where she worked as a medical technician in Fredericksburg, Va. She was a graduate of the Franklin School of Science and Arts in Philadelphia. She worked a med tech for 45 years. Her favorite pastime was cooking for her grandchildren and she was an avid reader. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin. She was preceded in death by her father. In addition to her mother, Mary Lou is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Patterson and her husband, Shawn, of North Huntingdon, Paula Novak, of Virginia, and Marianne Novak, of North Huntingdon; three grandsons, James Mayers, Alexander Novak and Alex Patterson; a sister, Patricia and her husband, Robert Laughton, of North Carolina; brother, Jack and his wife, Vickie Kopcak, of Virginia; and several nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin with Father John Moineau as celebrant. Please go directly to the church.
