Mary S. Lupyan

Mary S. Lupyan New Alexandria Mary S. Lupyan, 81, of New Alexandria, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Black Lick to her parents, George J. Hirko and Helen Urban Hirko. Mary worked for Thorofare supermarkets for 14 years. She then worked as a nurse's aide at Westmoreland Manor. She went to Winky's fast food in New Alexandria for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Mary also belonged to the Salem Ukes in New Alexandria. Mary was predeceased by her parents; brothers, George, Michael, John, Joseph, August, Edward and Andrew; and a sister, Ann Salisbury. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward Lupyan, of New Alexandria; children, Donald (Lisa), of Derry, Diane Coloman, of Ligonier, Moses (Kelly), of Castle Hayne, N.C., Michael (Melanie), of Blairsville, and Craig (Mindy), of Blairsville; a sister, Helen Joyce; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Hirko; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, newhousefuneralhome.com. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church in New Alexandria with Monsignor Larry J. Kulick, J.C.L., officiating.
