Mary (Nemcheck) Bohonis, 87, of New Alexandria, formerly of Slickville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015. "Toots" was born Dec. 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Mattey) Nemcheck. She is survived by her sister, Edith Orgovan, of New Alexandria; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Merle, after 56 years of marriage; and her sisters, Bertha Salensku, Estella Orgovan and Thelma (Babe) Gabriel. Although not blessed with children of her own, family was still very important to her. Aunt Toots was everyone's special aunt, always good for a laugh! Her nephews and nieces enjoyed spending time at their family farm. She was very giving and selfless, taking care of her sick father and father-in-law for many years after their illnesses. She loved sewing and was very proud to be a farmer's wife, raising hogs for many years before retiring from farming to travel. She and Uncle Merle explored all corners of the world by land, air and sea, documenting each and every place with hundreds of pictures. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Latrobe. The family would like to express their gratitude to New Haven Court at Linwood and Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Latrobe. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, in the Trinity Lutheran Church on Weldon St., Latrobe, with Pastor Jeffrey Shock officiating. Everyone go directly to the church. www.newhousefuneralhome.com.
