Lois Mika, 85, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Friday, June 17, 2016, at her home, surrounded by much love and family. She was born Oct. 2, 1930, and was a daughter of James and Hilma Bush. Lois loves her family. We say "loves" because we are comforted by the fact that she is definitely singing for us with the choir of angels in heaven. Lois was a gifted singer and dancer and she entertained all those who entered her home with music and laughter that brought tears of joy. She nourished her guests and family with an abundance of food that made lasting impressions of her generous hospitality. She created a home for her family that was filled with warmth largely due to her meticulous housekeeping and her keen attention to detail, but mostly attributed to the enormous love in her heart. In return for her never-ending love she will be forever cherished by her husband of 65 years, Edward "Eddie" Mika. Together they are the personification of what a loving marriage should be. It is easy to see that her example emanates in the eyes of her daughters, Carlotta (Anthony) Zuback, from Venetia, and Lana (Thomas) Munsell, from New Alexandria, who learned so many life lessons through her teachings. These life lessons trickled down to her grandchildren, Misty Dawn (Chris) Damvakaris, Tamara (Jason) Welles, Theresa (Greg) Smaroff and Anthony Zuback Jr., as well as her six great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Cole, Luke, Michael, Alessandra and Ava Carlotta. Because her family is her life, Lois is joyful to be eternally reunited with her parents, James and Hilma Bush, brothers, Marshall, Henry, Joseph and James, and her sisters, Theresa, Mildred and Sally. "A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others." Lois embodied this quote and was profoundly loved by her family and friends. A private viewing by those nearest to her heart will be offered at her home in New Alexandria. P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, New Alexandria, in charge of arrangements.
