Lena A. Nalevanko, 84, of Crabtree, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in her residence surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Crabtree, a daughter of the late Dominic D'Angelo and Antonia Maroni D'Angelo. She was a housewife and homemaker. She loved cooking and baking for her family. She was also very creative with her painting. Lena was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Crabtree, where she also belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mae, Ann, Edgar, Rose, Herman, Alphonse, Albert and Mario. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John J. Nalevanko; three children, John T. and wife, Lola Nalevanko, of Crabtree, Linda and husband, Gary Green, of Bethel Park, and James and wife, Jennifer Nalevanko, of Delmont; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Matthew, James and Joseph; a great-grandson, Blandon; a brother, Leonard and wife, Rita D'Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, at the corner of Church and Washington Streets, New Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Crabtree with the Rev. Father Justin Matro, O.S.B., as celebrant.
