It is with deep sadness that the family of Lawrence F. Bash, 85, of New Alexandria PA announces his passing on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Lawrence was born on June 16, 1939, the son of Michael L. Bash and Alice L. (McKowen) Bash. Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Jean (Elder) Bash and sisters Francis (Richard) Koontz and Martha (Merle) Clawson.
Lawrence is survived by his sister Dorothy Bash, brothers-in-law Robert (Kathleen) Elder, Bruce (Karleen) Elder, sister-in-law Joann (Thomas) Logan, nieces, Barbara (Donald) Edwards, Judith Koontz, Lorin (David) Johnson, Rebecca (Bill) Johnston, Susan (Keith) Tucker, Linda Clawson and Diana Worden, nephews, Robert (Karen) Koontz, Ronald (Jill) Koontz and David Emanuel. In addition Lawrence is survived by his extended family, Scott and Carla Hornock, Justin, Sarah and Joella Dietrick, Cory and Amanda Ewing, Charles and Carol Traeger and Troy Welch.
Lawrence was born and raised on the Bash Family Farm established in 1925. He graduated in 1956 from Saltsburg Senior High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. His love of farming continued throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Westmoreland Cattlemen's Association and was an avid hunter.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lawrence's life from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, 215 Church St., New Alexandria PA 15670. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Newhouse Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Waltenbaugh officiating. Burial at the Fenneltown Cemetery will be private.
The family would like to thank the Hillman Cancer Center, the staff of Harmony Rehabilitation and Bridges Hospice for the kindness and loving care extended to Lawrence and his family.
