John J. Lengel Sr., 91, of Crabtree, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, in Greensburg Care Center. Born April 6, 1923, in Crabtree, he was a son of the late Steve and Mary (Namit) Lengel. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Lengel, and sister, Helen Govora. He is survived by his son, John J. Lengel Jr.; a nephew, Steve J. Govora Jr. and his wife, Antoinette; three nieces, Anna Marie Palenchar, Betty Bensko and Barbara Yopkopenic and her husband, Steve; a great-niece, Carol Govora; two great-nephews, Steve and Dan Govora; and also numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, in New Alexandria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, in St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with Father Justin Matro as celebrant.
