John G. Yurack, 82, of New Alexandria, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Greensburg, son of Nick Yurack and Clara Vrbanic Yurack. He retired from Westinghouse in Blairsville after 36 years of service. John was a member of St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria, where he also belonged to the Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the American Legion Post No. 652 of New Alexandria. John was a Korean War Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his loving wife Cecelia Hornock Yurack; two sons, John Yurack, of New Alexandria, and James Yurack and wife, Amy, of Niceville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Hannah, Evan and Trevor Yurack; a sister, Mary Kubala, of Kent; and nephews, John Kubala and Joseph Kubala and wife, Laurie. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, in St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria, with the Very Rev. Larry J. Kulick, J.C.L., pastor of St. James Church, as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township.
