John Hill Sterrett, 90, of New Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at New Haven at Lindwood, Greensburg, PA. He was born October 31, 1934, in Greensburg, to the late Abram and Mary Lou (Steele) Sterrett. He was a retired machinist having worked for Overmyer Mould and Quality Mould. John was a member of Community United Presbyterian Church, and a Life member of the New Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, going to Rehoboth Beach, and watching western movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Sterrett; and a son, Brian A. Sterrett. John in survived by his wife of 67 years, Catherine "Kitty" (Shumack) Sterrett; two sons, Gary J. Sterrett (Kimberly) of Derry and Mark A. Sterrett (Kathy) of Hanover; a daughter-in-law, Susan M. (Muir) Sterrett of New Alexandria; eight grandchildren, Megan Kreutz (Kyle), Eric Sansonetti, Evan Sterrett, Courtney Sterrett, Cole Sterrett, Hannah Sterrett, Katie Sterrett, and Amber Sterrett; two siblings, Georgeann “Sis” Seanor (James) and Richard Sterrett (Nancy); as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leonard B. Morgan as officiating.
