John C. Patrick Sr., 91, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, in Greensburg. He was born June 26, 1920, in Crabtree, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Uhrin) Patrick. He retired from Latrobe Steel after 30 years as a furnace operator. John was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, in Crabtree, where he was active on the Bingo Committee and he sang in the Resurrection Choir. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Greensburg Council, the LOOM of Greensburg, the Latrobe Eagles, and the American Legion Post No. 982 of Whitney. He served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. Along with his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Joseph, James and Donald Patrick; and sisters, Mary Salandro and Patricia Diebold. John is survived by his loving wife of 72 years on Feb. 2, Bertha E. Patrick, of Greensburg; children, Helen and husband, Frank Osikowicz, of Greensburg, John Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Derry, Veronica and husband, Larry Munz, of Florida, Nerian and Donald Taylor, of Greensburg; brother, Raymond and wife, Peggy Patrick, of Greensburg; sister, Dolores Davis, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Mark, Francine, Rene', Shawn, Chris, L.J., Jason, Jim, Pat and Deanna; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Amanda, Allison, Matthew, Nicholas, Nathan, Nolan, Caileana, Brody, Kayleigh, Jerry, Connor, Liam, Haley and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, in New Alexandria. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church of Crabtree with the Rev. Justin Matro, OSB, as celebrant.
