John "Dale" Elliott, 86, of New Alexandria, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in Crest Personal Care Home. He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in New Alexandria, a son of the late Harry and Lydia Elliott. Dale had worked for Youngs Heating in New Alexandria and upon its closing he went to work at Clair E. Fink Plumbing and Heating of Youngstown, from where he retired. He belonged to Community United Presbyterian Church of New Alexandria. Dale was a caring individual. He always said yes when a member of his family needed help. He would come over and repair things without concern for his time or money. He will be missed by all. He served with the Marine Corps during World War II. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Esther, in 2009; and siblings, Harry C., Ella Mae, Isabell, Ada and Bertha. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Cora Jane Hudgkin and Anna Swank; two nieces; Nancy Watkins and Betty Lynn, both of Delmont; and several more nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the funeral home with the Rev. David Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Route 22, New Alexandria.
