Obituary

John P. Eidemiller III, 81, of New Alexandria, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born March 13, 1929, in Latrobe, to John P. II and Agnes (Schmucker) Eidemiller. John was co-owner of Penn Mat Company of Greensburg. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church of Crabtree where he was a member of the choir. He was also on the Bingo Committee and was a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Terry Eidemiller; and a sister, Rita Casper. John is survived by his seven children, Joan Gaffney and husband, Norman, of North Carolina, John P. "Jack" IV and wife, Deborah, of New Alexandria, Kurt D. and his companion, Mike Chalfant, of DC, Kyri Peer and husband, Ralph, of Virginia, Erik and wife, Denise, of New Alexandria, Erin Eidemiller, of Virginia, Heidi Walsh and husband, Michael, of Virginia; 13 grandchildren, April, Heather, John P. V "JP", Brianne, Seth, Matthew, Karissa, Dylan, Emilia, Owen, Thomas, Aidan and Cian; 10 great grandchildren, Ross, Spencer, Madison, Brandon, Casey, Olivia, Karina, Matthew Jr., Lillian, John P. VI "JJ"; and brothers and sisters, Olga Hornock, Thelma Snyder, Jerome Eidemiller, Matilda Burkholder, Minerva Phillips, Marie Henry. There are several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington Streets, in New Alexandria, www.newhousefuneralhome.com. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, in Crabtree, with the Rev. Leon Hont, OSB, pastor of ST. Bartholomew Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township.
