John Albert Berger

John A. Berger, 88, of New Alexandria, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in his home in New Alexandria where he was born Oct. 10, 1928. He was a son of Paul Berger and Lillian Sheffler Berger. John retired from Latrobe Steel after 40 years. He served with the Army during the Korean Conflict. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Esther Wolcott, Alme Mae Herbridge, Arthur Berger, Eugene Berger, Lillian Berger and Anna Berger. He is survived by siblings Paul Berger, Alice Murphy and Jill Yingst; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Bev and Brian Vought and sons. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, newhousefuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Grafton Eliason, pastor of Community United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria.
