JoAnn Ragan Obituary

JoAnn Ragan, 79, of New Alexandria, born Nov. 29, 1936, in East Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, after a short battle of lung cancer. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Loretta Litzinger. She was the beloved wife of Joseph for 56 years; her beloved children Lisa Chedrick (John), of Dagsboro, Del., Linda Munzek, of Bell Township, PA, Laura Sharp (Martin), of Delmont, PA. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Chelsea and Donald Chedrick, Amanda and Megan Munzek and Marisa and Abby Sharp. JoAnn was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with them. She was the sister of Leo Litzinger, of Cohasset, Mass., and James Litzinger, of New Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Litzinger, of Port Orange, Fla. She is survived by a very good family friend, Virginia and William Friend, as well as many nieces and nephews. With her husband, Joseph, she managed Ragan Monument Sales and Ragan Cemetery Services. As owner of Chartiers Cemetery, she was active in the Western PA Cemetery Association and served as president. JoAnn also served as president of the Chartiers Business and Professional Women's Association. She loved volunteering for her church, St. James, and was treasurer of Rosary Altar Guild for three years. JoAnn and Joe enjoyed family vacations and traveling to local casinos. Friends will be welcome 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 8 Monday at the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, 724-668-2248.
