Jimmy L. Southern Jr., 34, of New Alexandria, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at First Energy Corporation, Greensburg. He was born May 21, 1981, in Greensburg, to Jimmy L Southern Sr. and Marie A. Langel Southern, of Crabtree. Jimmy was a farmer working for Longs Farm. He was also employed by Butz Masonry. Jimmy was a graduate of Greensburg Salem, class of 2000. Jimmy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Elvera Langel; paternal grandparents, Wakefield and Myrtle Southern; his godmother and aunt, Debbie Palko; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived along with his parents by his fiancee, Elizabeth Ferris, of New Alexandria; stepsisters, Angela Jones and Tonya Collens; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces and cousins. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, newhousefuneralhome.com. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Holmes from Slickville Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating. The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Greensburg Animal Shelter.
