Jerome Paul Eidemiller, Sr.

Jerome Paul Eidemiller Sr., 94, of New Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in New Alexandria, to the late John Phillip Eidemiller II and Agnes (Schmucker) Eidemiller. He was a dedicated dairy farmer and appreciated a hard day's work put in at the farm. An honorable man of high integrity, he was devoted to his faith. A humble, devout Catholic, he was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church for more than 65 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, the St. James Church Choir and a volunteer at both Latrobe Hospital and the Westmoreland County Food Bank. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (McCormick) Eidemiller, in 2019; a grandson, Daniel Ficco; and five siblings, Olga Hornock, Rita Casper, Thelma Snyder, John Eidemiller III and Marie Henry. He is survived by six children, Jerome P. Eidemiller Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Oil City, Mary Margaret Shrum and husband, Boyd, of New Alexandria, Cecelia Eidemiller Razo and husband, Alberto, of Breckenridge, Colo., Mark Eidemiller and wife, Maryann, of Greensburg, Elizabeth Hergenroeder and husband, Jim, of Acme, and Eileen McIntosh and husband, Jock, of Oakton, Va.; two sisters, Matilda Burkholder and Minerva Phillips; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, in St. James Roman Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with the Rev. Tyler J. Bandura as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.  St. James Holy Name and St. James Rosary Alter Societies will recite the Rosary at 3:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.  Also, the family requests that everyone attending visitation or the funeral Mass, please wear a mask while doing so. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his name can be made to the Westmoreland County Food Bank, 100 Devonshire Dr, Delmont, PA 15626.  To send condolences please visit www.NewhouseFuneralHome.com.
