Jean Helen Sheffler, 84, of New Alexandria, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at her residence. She was born July 15, 1930, in Glenshaw, daughter of Elmer Herchenrother and Helen Weber. She worked for Metzgar Elementary School for more than 40 years as a lunch lady and part-time janitor. She was a member of the Community United Presbyterian Church of New Alexandria, where she taughter Sunday School for 30 years. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Ken) Sheffler, in 2011; and a granddaughter, Melissa Carney. She is survived by Barbara and Harold Carney, of Derry, Kenneth and Ebony Sheffler, of Alabama, Frank (Randy) Sheffler, of Belle Vernon, Jerry and Kathy Sheffler, Mark and Brenda Sheffler, David Sheffler and fiance, Rebecca Myers, all of New Alexandria; a brother, Blair Herchenrother, of Pittsburgh; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
