Jack Freeman, 78, of New Alexandria, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, in Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe. He was born May 21, 1932, in Tunnelton. He was a son of George William Freeman and Sara Ruth Gartley Freeman Hagerman. Jack was Protestant by faith and attended the Methodist Church in New Alexandria. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Freeman, of New Jersey, and Lee Freeman, of Latrobe. He is survived by two brothers, Raymond Freeman and wife, Annabell, of Derry, and Hal Freeman and wife, Donna, of Greensburg; four sisters, Virginia Trees and husband, Ed, of Dunbar, Betty Rombach and Patty Shirley, of Saltsburg, and Darlene Sue Duffey, of Florida; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Jack was employed by Vanadium Steel Co., later employed as a truck driver for Nellie Hall, and also a truck driver for Seanor Coal Co. Jack really enjoyed being flagman for the following speedways: Latrobe Speedway, Smuckers Speedway, Jennerstown Speedway, Lernerville Speedway and Motordrome Speedway. Jack loved life and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. At Jack's request, there will be no viewing. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria, with the Rev. Linda Landers officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Alexandria Fire Department.
