Houston B. Marshall, JR Age 68, of New Alexandria, PA died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Houston was born September 8, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Elizabeth G. Lowe and Houston B. Marshall. Beloved brother of Corinne M. Babson (John R. Jr.) and Robert Elder Marshall. Very loved Uncle of Robert E. Marshall, Jr, John R. Babson III (Abigail) and Kathryn Babson Brewer. Most adored great Uncle of Jack and Alexander Babson and Elizabeth and Cameron Brewer. In addition to his parents, Houston was predeceased by his sister in law, Peggy Humes Marshall. Houston attended Shady Side Academy and graduated from Mercersburg Academy, Washington and Jefferson College and California Western School of Law, San Diego. He was a private in the Army. He practiced law in Florida and Pennsylvania. He donated his time to civic organizations in Florida and Western PA. He especially loved his time spent on Cape Cod, MA and in St. Augustine; FL. Hooty was an active sportsman and loved golf, fishing and horseback riding in Montana. He was a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and Sons of the American Revolution in Palm Beach, FL as well as other private clubs. He was an outstanding care giver to family members and friends. He adored every minute spent with his nieces and nephews. In his later years, Houston enjoyed many trips, outings and adventures with his girlfriend and companion Carrie Thomas and her daughter Cate Kessler. He became an integral member of their family; his positivity, good humor, and kindness touched both of their lives so deeply, as well as the lives of countless others, friend and stranger alike. He was a true joy and light in this world and he will be deeply and sincerely missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February, 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, 215 Church St. , New Alexandria, PA with Rhea Summit officiating, where the family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the P.
