Helen J. Mumau, 94, of New Alexandria, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. She was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Derry Township, daughter of the late John and Eva (McDowell) Liebel. She was a housewife and a homemaker. She was of the Protestant faith. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband, George Mumau; brothers, Joseph, Edward, William, Raymond, Thomas and Leonard Liebel; and sisters, Margaret Kinnan and Anna Kozielec; two infant sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Connie Mumau. Helen is survived by two children, G. Robert Mumau and wife, Claudia, of New Jersey, and Linda Swank and husband, Don, of New Alexandria; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her loving canine companion, Lexie; two sisters, Rosemary David and husband, John, and Nancy O'Hara, all of Latrobe; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, in New Alexandria. Funeral service will be private, at the request of the family. Pastor Rhea Summit, of New Alexandria United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria.
