Elizabeth H. (Hornock) Vargo, of New Alexandria, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born in New Alexandria to the late Andrew Hornock and Mary Repko Hornock. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church and St. James Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed reading cookbooks and creating new recipes. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Hornock, Andrew Hornock and Philip Hornock. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank J. Vargo; two daughters, Joanne Kachonik and her husband, Andrew, of Blairsville, and Bernice Corl and her husband, Rick, of New Alexandria; five grandchildren, Matthew Kachonik and his wife, Laurn, Laura Corl and her fiance, Roger Hattrup, Kristine Corl and her friend, Mike Hines, Steven Corl and his friend, Lauren Brack, and Kaitlin Kachonik; one great-grandchild, William Kachonik; two sisters, Margaret Forish and Cecilia Yurack; one brother, Edward Hornock and his wife, Susan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington Streets, New Alexandria, www.NewhouseFuenralHome.com. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria with Msgt Larry J. Kulick officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
