Donald F. Swank, 66, of New Alexandria, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born July 20, 1946, in Latrobe, he was a son of Bessie Swank, of Jeannette, and the late Floyd Swank. Donald was an over-the-road trucker, having worked for many firms. He retired from Quikrete concrete of Latrobe. Don was of the Lutheran faith. He also belonged to VFW Post 33 of Greensburg and American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the Air Force with the rank of staff sergeant. Along with his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Mikesell. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda D. Mumau Swank, of New Alexandria; two daughters, Melissa Sisti and husband, David, of Greensburg, and Kristen Balega and husband, Brian, of Chugiak, Alaska; two grandchildren, Michael and Jenna; a brother, Gary Swank, of Pittsburgh; a brother-in-law, Edward Mikesell; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Lexie. Memorial services will be private at the request of the family, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, with Pastor Rhea Summit, of New Alexandria United Methodist Church, officiating.
