Donald Elliott Obituary

Donald P. Elliott Jr., 68, of New Alexandria, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, in Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born June 6, 1945, in Latrobe, son of Donald P. Elliott Sr. and Rose Marie Slezak Elliott. He retired from the DEP after 38 years as an instructor. Don was a member of St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria. He was a former assistant chief, past president and treasurer of the New Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department No. 77. He worked with the Mutual Aid Ambulance Service and also taught EMT classes for them. He taught at the UPMC center for emergency medicine and local colleges including Carnegie Melon University. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews and a brother-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Patricia J. O'Leary, of New Alexandria; three children, Steven P. Elliott and fiance, Stephanie Bello, of Pittsburgh, Elizabeth M. Elliott, of Hermitage, and Scott J. Elliott and wife, Lauren, of Yukon; siblings, Kathleen Gongaware and Howard Peters, Daniel Elliott and wife, Tracie, Judi Elliott and Mike Cain; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, in St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria for family and friends with Father Larry J. Kulick J.C.L. as celebrant.
