Dennis R. Russian

Dennis R. Russian, 67, of Crabtree, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at UPMC Presbyterian-Montefiore, Pittsburgh. He was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Latrobe, to the late Henry and Anne Kanala Russian. Dennis retired from Westinghouse in Trafford where he was a draftsman and painter. He was a member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church of Crabtree. He was a member of Hannastown and Crabtree Firemans Club. He was a former firefighter in Crabtree. He was a member of the American Legion Post 515 of Latrobe and Whitney Firemans Club. He was a veteran, having served in the Army in Vietnam with the Special Forces. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-brother, James Bayura. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Diane L. Massimo, of Crabtree; two sons, Denny Dominick Jr. and Robert Boettinger; two aunts, Rose Levandosky and Charlotte Kanala; mother-in-law, Mary Massimo; and God-child, Brian Butz. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington Streets, New Alexandria. P. Justin Matro O.S.B., Pastor of Bartholomew Church, as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery in Unity Township. Interment to be announced at a future date.
