Charles K. Sheffler, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011. He was born Oct. 22, 1927, in New Alexandria, a son of the late Frank Sheffler and Margaret Crawford Sheffler. Charles retired from Overmyer Mold in Greensburg, where he was a truck driver. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church of New Alexandria. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army at the rank of tech-5. He instructed blind veterans in retail business methods after the war. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Thomas, Hazel, Ruth, Nora, James and Ralph and a granddaughter Melissa. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean H. Sheffler, of New Alexandria; children, Barbara Carney and husband, Harrold Jr., Kenneth (Kenny) Sheffler, Jerry Sheffler and wife, Kathy, Mark Sheffler and wife, Brenda, David Sheffler and wife, Teresa, all of New Alexandria, and Randy Sheffler, of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Lisa Reese, Chad Sheffler and Trisha Sheffler; great-grandson, Cody Reese; a sister, Martha Dick and husband, Kenneth, of Delmont; special nieces, Bonnie and Peggy; along with several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, where a service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Pete Hipple officiating.
