Catherine Klingensmith Obituary

Catherine A. Klingensmith, 77, of New Alexandria, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at home surrounded by her family. Born Jan. 31, 1935, in Derry Township, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Brant Davis. Catherine was a housewife and homemaker. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting and arranging flowers. She was a member of Congruity United Presbyterian Church of Salem Township. She was also a lifetime member of the New Alexandria Firemen's Club and the Salem Ukrainian Club. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren E. Klingensmith, in 2011; a son, David W. Klingensmith, in 2009; and a sister, Mary. She is survived by her children, Sharren MacDonald and husband, Harry, and Robert W. Klingensmith, both of New Alexandria, and Mary Jo Shellgren and fiance, Russ McCoy, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel Davis and wife, Sandy, of Arizona, and Arthur Davis, of Delmont; half brother, Charles T. Davis and wife, Rebecca; half sister, Carrie Minemyer and husband, Robert; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, and from 2 to 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. Where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 with the Rev. H. Clifton Foster officiating.
