Carmel (Carmen Carmine) Salandro, 91, of Greenwald, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Carmella's House, Crabtree. He was born March 31, 1920 at home in Luxor, a son of the late Pasquale Salandro and Anna Marie Vernino. Carmen worked for Jamison Coal Mines along with his father and brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Marko-Salandro; his son, Patrick Joseph Salandro; a granddaughter Christian Marie Salandro-Danella; four brothers, Anthony, Angelo, Joseph, and Russell Salandro; two sisters, Rose Digiacobia and Anna Gumbo. He is survived by his Grandaughter, Robin Marie Salandro-Carbone; his two grandsons, Patrick Joseph Salandro II and Arron Michael Salandro; his three great grandchildren Ben Vincent Carbone, Madeleine Price Danella, and Enzo Christian Salandro. Relatives and friends are invited to a simple graveside service at The Calvary Hill Cemetery of the Diocese of Greensburg, Monday, December 19, 2011, at 11:00am with Father Leon Hont, OSB, officiating.
