Carl Stynchula Obituary

Carl Stynchula, age 78 of New Alexandria went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2010 at his home. He was born on August 23, 1931 in Greenwald, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Amelia Stynchula. Carl served in the U. S. Army in Europe with the Big Red One, the Air Force in Korea, and the 112th TFG of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. The U.S. Department of Defense appointed Carl to the ESGR (Employers in Support of the Guard and Reserves) in 1985. He was a member of American Legion Post 652, VFW Post 7745, the American Red Cross, the New Alexandria Lions Club, and St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Crabtree. Carl served on the New Alexandria Borough Council for 14 years - 10 of those as President of the Council - and remained active in local politics until his passing. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph; his mother, Amelia; his brothers Andrew, John, Michael, Thomas, Frank and his sisters Ann, Sophia, Helen and Rose; and an infant son. He is survived by his wife JoAnne Rigby Stynchula and his children, Joseph Carl (Manassas VA); Cindy (San Antonio TX), David and wife, Valerie (Columbus OH), Monica and husband Dr. Osman Ahmed (Tampa FL), Carl Jr.and wife, Beth (Wilmington NC); Matthew and wife, Julie (Columbus OH), Nancy Schaeffer Mowery and husband Chris (Greensburg PA); thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren his brother Fred Stynchulaand wife Mary of (Crabtree) and countless nieces and nephews. Friend and family will be received on Tuesday, August 24th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, Corner of Church and Washington Streets in New Alexandria Pa. www.newhousefuneralhome.com A mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 25th at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Crabtree at Noon. Full military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 33 of Greensburg after the funeral mass. Private internment.
