Betty T. Cain, 81, of New Alexandria, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in John J. Kane Regional Center, Pittsburgh. She was born June 27, 1932, in New Alexandria, to the late William and Elsie Rupnick Trumbetta. Betty was a housewife and a homemaker. She was a member of St. James Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Altar Society and was a past president. She was a member of the AOH, a former member of St. Bartholomew Church and past president of its Rosary Altar Society. Betty was very active in local government. She was a former member of New Alexandria Council as vice president, was secretary of the New Alexandria Municipal Authority, advisor and sponsor of the New Alexandria Business Association, former mayor of New Alexandria Borough, a member of New Alexandria Firemen's Auxiliary and of New Alexandria Sewage Committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Cain. Betty is survived by her son, Gregory Cain and his wife, Susan, and granddaughter, Brenna, all of Mt. Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. The Rosary Altar Society of St. James Church will pray the rosary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with the Very Rev. Larry Kulick JCL, Pastor of St. James Church, as celebrant. Burial will be in Twin Valley Mausoleum, Delmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Alexandria Public Library.
