Barbara L. (Cain) Hargnett, 86, of New Alexandria, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. She was born July 26, 1938, in Wilkinsburg, daughter of James M. Cain and Marjory M. (Boyle) Cain. Barbara was a graduate of Penn Hills High School and worked for the Bell Telephone Company before becoming a loving mother and homemaker. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing, quilting, making hand-crafted dolls and writing stories based on characters that she created. She had great love of antiques and the history of what each item was and where it may have come from. She was very caring and always concerned for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Hargnett, her parents, and brothers, James M. Cain and J. Norman Cain. Barbara is survived by her sons, John (Mary) Hargnett of Greensburg and Donald Hargnett of New Alexandria, her sister, Dorothy Partridge, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Newhouse Funeral Home, 215 Church Street, New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. and inurnment immediately following at Union Cemetery in New Alexandria.
