Albert Regis Toohey, 90, of New Alexandria, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Loyalhanna Care Center. He was born March 28, 1925, in Fallen Timber, to John Toohey and Margaret Duman. He went to work at 17 for the Pennsylvania Railroad where he retired after45 years of service. He retired as a gang foreman. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed helping out his many friends. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. Preceded in death by his parents, he was the last survivor of his siblings, Kathryn, Margaret, Alice, Jane, Virginia, Anna and Eleanor; and brothers, Arnold and George. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eleanor Krause Toohey, of New Alexandria; three children, Albert Toohey, of Pittsburgh, David Toohey, of Bellefonte, and Patrick Toohey, of State College; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. Visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington Streets in New Alexandria, www.newhousefuneralhome.com. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, in St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with Monsignor Larry J. Kulick J.C.L. officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria.
