Lawrence (Larry) George Hafer

Lawrence (Larry) George Hafer, 67, of Salem Township, passed away on Feb. 15, 2024, at Forbes Hospice in Monroeville PA.  He was a son of the late Richard and Connie (DeLuca) Hafer, born April 25, 1956, in Latrobe, PA.  He was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School, class of 1974.  He retired from Dominion Energy (Texas Eastern).  Larry loved the outdoors. He spent endless days at his camp with his many friends hunting and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rich and Mark; a niece, Rose Marie Hafer; and a brother-in-law, Harry Detar.  He leaves behind a brother, Ed (Bonnie) of Delmont, three sisters, Connie Detar of Harrison City, Carol Cafiero of King of Prussia and Janet Hafer (John Thackray) of Pittsburgh; sisters-in-law, Cindy Hafer of Salem Township and Carol Hafer of Greensburg; his good friend, Dan Britz; and many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248.  A funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, in St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with Father Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating.  Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 214, Forbes Road PA 15633 in Larry’s memory.
